Does anyone have additional information on MARGARET COUCHMAN who married GEORGE REID? I show her born in Ulster, Ireland, marrying before 1744 either in Ulster or Pennsylvania and dying before 1786 in Abbeville, South Carolina. Did they have children? I show GEORGE REID born Dec. 23, 1719 Ulster and died April, 1790 in Abbeville or Old 96 Dist., SC. In 1744 I show this George Reid also married Abigail Leger, born in France.

Harold,
I come from this George Reed family. Here is what I have that proves the Couchman Reed relationship:
Hardy County, W VA Deed Book 4, page 24: George Reed, Bourbon Co KY to Daniel Tevebaugh all estate right, title and interest which George Reed and Margaret, his wife, now have and hereafter may have by virtue of the last will and testament of Henry Couchman deceased..." Sept. 28, 1795 (Daniel Tevebaugh was the stepfather of Margaret Couchman Reed.)
Deed Book Bourbon Co, KY, Vol 8, page 156: George Reed and his wife, Margaret, sold land to Phoebe Couchman, 44 acres, it being part of the same land which was conveyed to John Adams Couchman by deed of lease from Thomas Lord Fairfax, dated Aug. 3, 1804.

From the above information, it seems to me that the Couchmans were in America for quite a while. It is clear that Henry is Margaret's father and possibly John Adams Couchman is grandfather? (I have a death date for Henry as 1767)
There is a site on World Connect that has a John Adams Couchman married to a Phoebe See. That would lead one to believe that Margaret, having moved on to KY, is selling her inheritance back to her mother. But if Daniel Tevebaugh is Margaret's step-father in 1795, then why does Phoebe still carry the Couchman name? Unless Daniel died and she took back Couchman because that's what her children's names were. It's unlikely that it's Margaret's unmarried sister making land deals.
That's about all I can give you, I keep hoping to turn up some more on the Couchmans myself. I'd like to know why you think Margaret was born in Ulster? I don't have anything on that. Do you need children for George and Margaret?
