| See Raulston and Russell Genealogy Felix Hughes to Ebenezer Miller, 9 Dec 1805: "Simmons is rather depreciating, has hired out Prince last season for $80 Dollars, and is obliged to hire Jude occasionally. His family has increased; about twelve month ago, a daughter was then born to him, whom he calls Nelly." Zilpah McGinty to Susan Miller, 18 Jun 1843:"I can not imagine what has become of Aunt Anna Simmons's family. I have written four times to William and Eleanor Day in the last eighteen months, but have not received a single line in reply. I think they certainly have left that part of the country, or some of them would write. Nelly answered all my letters punctually for two years and at the end of that time ceased to write all together, and we have not heard a word from any of them since." See Legal Records of Washington Parish, Vol. I, p. 74-75, for letter from Eleanor C. Day to Hardy Richardson dated June 18, 1869, inquiring if "the old lady day is dead or not I never can hear from her and if she is I want the place sold so that I can get my children part of it..." Mentions living with her son in law. States that he should "direct your letters to Svairesville bell county back your letters to Zelpah for every body nowes her... Zelpah C. I have a write up from the book "The History of Angelina County, TX" compiled by the Lufkin Genealogical and Historical Society about the daughter of William Day and Eleanor C. Simmons, Zilpah Clarissa Day who first married Thomas Walker Slocum in Caldwell Parish, LA and later married William S. Harvey. This write up states William Day died 1843-1850 In Franklinton, LA. It gives no more info on the mother. I have an inquiry from "Heritage Papers" from Mrs. Annie L. Nutt, 306 S Bounds St, Carthage, Tx 75633 (dated 10 1986) looking for info on Eleanor and William. She said Eleanor (Ellen) was in the 1850 census for Washington Parish, LA with two of her daughters, Elizabeth (Mrs Jim Slocum) and Zilpha Clarissa. born 9 15 1840. Zilpha and William S. Harvey married in Caldwell Parish 6 18 1865 and moved to Nacogdoches county TX and later Madison county, TX Peggy Hill -----Original Message----- From: Bob Thompson <bfthompson@home.com> To: peggyhill@prodigy.net <peggyhill@prodigy.net> Date: Thursday, December 20, 2001 10:15 PM Subject: Simmons-Miller I saw your post on the Ann Miller--Robert Simmons family of Washington Co., LA on the Simmons GenForum Board. I am researching the descendants of Robert Miller and Jane Pickens, and Ann was their daughter. I have a great deal of information on the Jane Simmons--James Raulston line also mentioned, as well as information on Elizabeth and John Simmons (two other children of Robert and Ann), but am interested to know if you have information on the following children of Ann and Robert: Robert M. Simmons (d. 1830, Washington Parish LA), William Winter Simmons, Rebecca Simmons Dias, Eleanor Simmons Day or Ann Simmons Williams? | ||||||||||
