Misc. Notes
Letter from Robert Miller (son of Andrew) to Ebenezer Miller, 13 Nov 1815:"Brother John is living about 15 Miles from Uncle Hughes and was married a short time before I got here. I can't say what sort of a wife he has got. I have never been to where he lives. Him and her came and staid one night at Uncle Hughes while I was there. I believe she is a poor girl and I believe he has not made much property since he came to this country .

Letter from Robert Miller (son of Andrew) to Ebenezer Miller, 3 Mar 1818:"You mention having written me and forwarded a memorandum wishing John S. Miller to send on a power of Attorney to have the land belonging to the Estate of our father sold. This letter I have never received. John wishes the land sold very much but it appears he cannot leave home at this time. I have it in contemplation to start for Carolina in the course of next month, but of this I am not certain. If I come on to your place, I will bring a power of Attorney from John and have the whole of the land sold and make arrangements to bring Jane and Peggy to this Country .They have a long time a charge to their Relations. I have never had a home to take them to as they should not have been a charge to their friends so long. I feel for their situation and shall endeavour to do something for them in a very short time.
I was at John's a short time since. Him and his family was well."

Letter from Felix Hughes to Ebenezer Miller, 30 Apr 1821:"Brother Robert and family are well; he still lives on the West bank of the Mississippi, so does Cousin Robert, he was lately at my house and promised punctually to write to you. John S. is living on a tract of land of mine in Claiborne County, his Sisters live with him. If you should write to him, direct your letter to Port Gibson, Claiborne County , Miss."

Letter from Robert Miller (son of Andrew) to Ebenezer Miller, 18 Oct 1822: "A week following[approximately 27 Sep 1822], brother John had the distressing misfortune to loose his wife and youngest child, as fine a little daughter as ever I saw, about a year old. They were sick but a few days. They were both buried on the same day, which has left us in a very distressing situation. John was just getting a good way to live and I believe would have done well. I expect when he gathers his crops, he will move over and live with me. He has two fine little sons alive, Andrew and Robert. Jane & Peggy are living with him and are both well."

Letter from Margaret Hughes to Ebenezer Miller,13 Apr 1826:"John Sample Miller lost his wife about four years ago. He then left his two little sons with his wife's sister, and went to live with little Robert on the other side of the river, but he did not live there long until he and Robert fell out and he has been overseeing ever since. I believe he is doing very well. He does not live far from us and his Children still lives with his sister-in-law and is going to school."

See the following exerpt from letter by Hibernia Hughes to Sarah Miller, 1/23/1833:
Cousin Robert's death was a shocking affair, he was shot by a trifling gambling scoundrel, and died in eight hours after; and his Brother John Sample has moved over and taken possession of every thing, he says he intends being appointed guardian for his sister that is living with Mother, but he is in as much need of a guardian as she is, for he is a wild Harum Scarum fellow, Mother and Brother Phil went over the river last week to see some thing about Roberts affairs but John was not there and they could not do any thing. Mother says she wishes you to till Cousin Andrew, please to ask Uncle if ever he gave little Robert any money or any thing for Peggy . She says she wishes to know and will be much oblige Cousin Andrew or Uncle if they will write immediately and give her a statement of the whole affair.--

I believe this John S. Miller is listed in Claiborne County census in 1830 as follows:
1 Male 20-40 [John S. Miller]
3 Males 10-20 [Robert b. ca 1817, Andrew b. ca 1819 and ?]
1 Male under 10 [Samuel Gibson Miller-b. ca 1827
Martha'slocation in this census is not clear, but she is not listed.

This is a bit uncertain. Robert Miller, John S. Miller's son, was still a minor at his father's death in 1835, but was purchasing land in 1839. My assumption is that he was about 18 in 1835 and over 21 in 1839.
Another possibility is the John S. Miller in Adams County:
1 Male 20-40
2 Males under 10
