Hibernia Hughes to Mrs. Sarah Miller 27 Jan 1833: "Tell Cousin Andrew that McGinty has moved down and is going to live here, he is building a house between our house and the church; and I expect while he stays here he will do tolerably well, he dug up his little daughter that was buried in Warren County and brought her down and buried her in our graveyard; I said all were well here; Zilpah's youngest child is quite sick. "

Hibernia Hughes to Andrew Miller 26 Feb 1833: "Sister Zilpah is here at this time. She sends her best love to you and Cousin Sarah and says she would be more than pleased to hear from you or Sarah either. McGinty is living here this year he has been very steady since he had been here and works very hard. "

Letter from Hibernia Hughes to Susan Miller, Sept. 26, 1833 (original in possession of Charles Miller): "Zilpah's little Franklin died last month and Phillip's little Sarah last Saturday."

Hibernia Hughes to Sarah Miller 14 Feb 1835: "Sister Zilpah is here at this time, but expect to leave shortly. She has a daughter two months old that she calls Margaret Elmira, & when when she leaves we will be quite alone, no one but Mother, Peggy & myself. ...Sister Zilpah sends her love to you & Cousin Andrew – her son Andrew Miller is one of the finest looking fellows you ever saw. "

Hibernia Hughes to Ebenezer Miller 20 Aug 1835: "Sister Zilpah has gone with her trifling husband again & they are now living in Vicksburg. I don't know, but don't expect he is doing anything unless drinking whiskey, and that he can do to perfection."

Letter from Hibernia Hughes to Sarah Miller, September 1836: "Sister Zilpah is at Mother's now & I expect will stay there some time she came there about two weeks since in the belief that McGinty had gone to Texas, as he had left home three weeks before and told her he was going there. And yesterday morning he came to Brother Phil's and has been taking a Spree all this time not more than twenty miles from home. Brother Phil went to Mothers & asked Zilpah where she thought he was & she said in Texas, and was very much surprised when he told her he was at his house, but said she would not live with him any more unless he done better--She only has two children living her little Andrew died last summer & is better off unless he had a better father..."

Zilpah McGinty to Susan Miller, 17 Jul 1844: "Robert and Oscar are both sick with fever. Oscar has been very sick indeed but they are both better today. ... Mr. Clifton and his oldcst daughter is to be up this month and will bring Ella home, as they have no teacher since Miss Taylor died. Then I will be more confined at home than I have heen."

Jefferson County Census, 1850 shows Zilpah (42) as a widow, living with her mother Margaret (78), and children Robert (20), Ella (16)and Oscar(14), along with Gorton? Miller, 4, and Ella Miller, 2.

Jefferson County Census, 1860 shows Zilpah (52) with Ella (28) and Jno. L. McKey (Dept. Sherriff). Note that Robert was listed in census as Sherriff.
