South Carolina State Plat Book 45, p. 206, records a plat surveyed April 19, 1810 laid out to Dr. John Henry Miller (pursuant to a warrant dated April 18, 1810) for 120 acres in Abbeville District on Edwards Creek, a branch of Long Cane Creek," bounded by John Fulton's land, Samuel Houston's land and James East's[?] land.
According to "Calhoun, Hamilton, Baskin and Related Families" compiled by Lewin Dwinell McPherson, "John Henry Miller, M.D., practiced medicine in Abbeville District, South Carolina where he and wife were members of the Long Cane Presbyterian Church. Dr. Miller moved with his family about 1819 from Abbeville District, South Carolina to the vicinity of Valley Creek Church, near Selma in Dallas County Alabama and moved later to Pontotoc, Mississippi.
