Sir Oedipus

Today we were playing outside and John gave me a leaf. I put it behind my ear.

John: You look like a princess.

Me: Thank you.

John: I'm a knight and I'm going to marry you.

And then he gave me a big kiss.

Later I was holding him and he asked, "Where's your moles?" (I have a big hairy mole that is at a place on my jawline I cannot see when I look in the mirror so I always forget about it). I pointed to it and he kissed it and said, "I love it."

Then Will took forever tucking John in because he is scared of the dark and naturally wary of our new "latch system" ("latch" being a more parentally correct term than "lock"). I went up there and told John I liked the dark because it's when I get to dream. I asked him what he sees when he closes his eyes at night.

His answer: Horses and donkeys in the sky playing catch.

Is that a good dream or a bad dream? Maybe it's why he doesn't want us turning out the light and latching him in...

May your knight in shining armor love you moles and all and may the donkey of your dreams keep his eye on the ball.
