On the Move!

Sorry to be even worse than usual about writing. We are moving on Friday!!! I am so excited but as you can imagine pretty busy between packing, keeping the house clean to show people, keeping the boys out of the clean house, and refereeing every interaction between the guys. Even hugs which have become thinly veiled versions of choke-holds and tackles.

The boys are living up their last few nights in the same room--at least officially. I have a feeling they will all camp out on one floor for a while. Anyway it has been taking longer than ever for them to calm down and go to sleep at night. But their excuses when we go to check are sometimes amusing. Last week it was from John, "We're doin' jokeses, Momoe!" The next time they all had their blankets spread on the floor and were sitting on them. "We're at the beach!" One time they're throwing their blankets off the bed and dragging them back up. "We're pulling up the anchors!" John tries to dull Will's and my frustration with sweetness every now and then. I've told you about his disgusting "string" the dreadlock he's stretched and pulled from his blanket. As he sucked on the string he handed his extra string to me. "You can have a string," he said. "It's not yucky." It was dry, but still I demurred.

The grandparents and great grandparents and aunts and friends have been big helps. I am hoping one day all the people helping us will need us and by that time we will have the brainpower and energy to help them! I've tried to keep going with the Arbonne as I push through with the move. Sea salt scrub really is the perfect escape and I find myself much preferring to talk to people about skincare than to roll up one more thing in newsprint!

The boys love the new house. When we take them over there (it's empty right now) they run around and around and around and the grandparents say be careful! be careful! be careful! but the boys don't hear and they are moving so fast and in such a frenzy they each generate their own gravitational field keeping their heads afloat from the brick hearth and their feet catching air over every doorjamb and step. John ran into his new room last night and made sure, "It's close to Georgie's room?" I think John is going to have the hardest time sleeping alone. Especially with his "injury". He has a spot on the bottom of his big toe where his skin is peeling off a little bit. When he gets tucked in, the blanket must cover him and give him free access to his string but his injured toe must stick OUT from under the blanket. When he takes a bath, a new bandaid must be applied for bathtime and then replaced again with a new one after the bath. These are the things you don't argue with because you're tired.

Speaking of which, someone is coming to see the house tomorrow for their second time! I am very excited, but I have cleaning and more packing to do. It may be a while before I can write again. But I will be back! And in my new house. I wonder if my new workspace will encourage better writing? Or at least encourage writing more often! Instead of the kitchen I will be in our office! I've decided it's where my first novel will be written. It's very respectable with lots of beautiful paneling and crenelated molding. A bit more inspiring than my current spot lodged between a metal rack of pots and pans and a bookshelf full of cookbooks! Wish us luck! Talk to you soon!
