Momoe, Where Do Zebras Go?

We had a great weekend. The boys get up so early we have to come up with things to do and places to go. Here the boys are at Fort Moultrie where they played on the cannons and ran in the grass. John liked to pretend to light the back of the cannon with a piece of grass and yell, "Shoot it! Shoot it!" Where did he come up with this? Sadly, Georgie was having a rough morning and insisted on bringing his much loved zebra magnet with him and he somehow got separated from the pack and was lost. We combed the grass but you can imagine how much ground in a wide-open field Georgie-Pie can cover with his quick little steps. We didn't find the zebra, but all of the boys now get a very somber look on their face as they talk about the fate of the zebra magnet. "He at the Fort." "He wit da cannons." "He in da grass." And James will insist otherwise until his face turns red but Georgie knows, "He swims in da ocean. Wit da dolphins."

The boys have been happy for the most part, but wild wild wild. John doesn't even know when he is loud, but it's pretty much always. Happy or sad noises. James is happy as long as he is on the boat or at the beach. But as you can imagine, that leaves a lot of other time. George has been a little needy lately. Books read and blankets held and that kind of thing. They have fun together, but fun means tackling each other, covering each others heads up with a blanket and jumping on top, and making up silly words. None of this is fun for me and the tackling usually ends up with someone hurt, the blanket ends up being fought over, and the silly words end up hurting John's feelings. They did make up a couple of good phrases--They say "Be-ginnin'" when they start a book and "Be-end" when it's over. They say "Nobody" when there's nobody somewhere--"Nobody on the beach today!" with the opposite and nicely argumentative, "YEAHbody on the beach today!" which usually means somebody sees bodies on the beach and somebody doesn't. What's a Mama-Body to do but turn the radio up...
