Tomasina Paine's Thoughts on Oakton Commons

June 4, 2005

I am interested to hear what the developer of Oakton Commons has to say on Thurs., June 9th, regarding the new development on Okeechobee Blvd. I am particularly interested in what they have to say regarding the new firehouse. On Sat. June 4th, the Palm Beach Post had an editorial regarding this firehouse and its relation to Roebuck Road. According to the newspaper, and most observers, the firehouse is being held hostage by the County until Roebuck Rd. is finally approved.

As far as the builder paying the cost of the firehouse, we should all remember that when the three developments on Okeechobee were built (Riverwalk, Andros Isle & Baywinds), the purchasers of homes were assessed and paid an impact fee to the City to fund the firehouse. That money has either been used up or disappeared. So - wherever that money is now - we PAID for that firehouse.

Use your common sense. Do not rely on anything that a builder tells you (e.g., the current lawsuit involving Roebuck Road).

Protect your money and your investment by carefully scrutinizing whatever information comes to you, no matter what the source.
