Edmund Dante's Viewpoint on the Club Purchase Committee

June 2 , 2005

Has anyone noticed that many people, both privately and at Cove meetings, are voicing complaints about services. Some people are complaining about landscaping problems, others about sprinkler problems and ruptured sprinkler heads and lines. Still others voice complaints about management companies and multiple work orders that are not completed.

These complaints never cease. Some are unfounded but we all know that most are valid. The question then arises "where are the cove presidents in this situation?" They appear not to be able to handle these problems, or at best are overwhelmed by them. In either case, this shows us that we have a large problem.

If these presidents cannot cope with cove problems which are relatively small, then what makes us think they are equipped to deal with Lennar in the purchase of the clubhouse? Are these people competent to run the clubhouse? We are talking about serious money, our money. It is time to start thinking about what is really going on and paying attention to business, our business. Let us not put our trust where it may not belong .

The true test of competency is how the every day problems are or are not being attended to. If a president isn't effective at dealing with Mike Cioffi, how can he be effective at dealing with Lennar regarding the purchase of a multi-million dollar clubhouse?
