This CD presents itself as a document of the Zyklus performances of Max Neuhaus, particularly with regard to his "spontaneous" performance practice when playing this variable work. Most (or all?) other performers work out and practice their version in advance.

It has been established that the first and fourth performances on this CD are the same versions as previously recorded on LP.

CD includes photographs of early performances by Max Neuhaus.
