Back From iBlog 1.4 Hell

I suspect it was simply a matter of bad timing that caused my and many other users' iBlog-based blogs to go dead-in-the-water after upgrading to iBlog 1.4 in the last couple of weeks.

New BlogSnaps Preference

I wondered in my last post about just how fast BlogSnaps' response would be to adding a proposed Preference setting for reformatting linefeeds in e-mail submitted entries. I found out today that it's pretty darned fast!

BlogSnaps Repaired...Somewhat

After I finished and submitted my entry about BlogSnaps yesterday (in
which I erroneously credited Lifli as the creator of BlogSnaps instead of
Thunderstone Media), I went to the BlogSnaps Forum and posted a message
about the e-mail submission problem. I didn't expect such a quick
response!

BlogSnaps Interesting, But Necessary?

[Correction: Thanks to SilverDragon for pointing out that BlogSnaps is a creation of Thunderstone Media, the same folks responsible for DotMac.Info. BlogSnaps is not a Lifli production.]

BlogSnaps is the new online companion service to iBlog. Lifli Software is the creator of iBlog, and as best as I can tell, the BlogSnaps service was also created by Lifli. So what's it supposed to do?

iBlog 1.3.8

iBlog 1.3.8 is here and Lifli bills it as a "critical/recommended update" due to a data loss issue in the 1.3.7 update. I accidentally missed the 1.3.7 update, and that sounds like a good thing. There are basically just a couple of fixes for annoying bugs that I'm looking for in this update.

iBlog 1.3.5

Yesterday Lifli released version 1.3.5 of iBlog. I think this is one of the longest periods that we've gone without an iBlog update, and with good reason. The program has been working reliably for several months now. So what's new in 1.3.5? Seems like mostly some more performance improvements, one welcome new feature, and one weird new feature.

iBlog 1.3.4

The biggest changes in iBlog 1.3.4 are changes to previewing and publishing your blog. Unfortunately, these are very dangerous areas to make changes; especially if the changes don't work correctly....

iBlog AppleScripts

One of the best new features of iBlog 1.3.1, IMHO, is the ability to embed HTML code in blog entries through the use of iBlog's HTMLCode tags. The only problem with iBlog's implementation is that it actually increases the amount of HTML code that you have to write to achieve even simple formatting like multiple, indented paragraphs, and numbered or bulleted lists. For instance, the HTMLCode tags ignore carriage returns, so if you want paragraph breaks between blockquoted paragraphs, then you'll need to end each paragraph with one or more <br> (break) tags. As I found myself writing the same types of HTMLCode over-and-over again, I finally decided to do something about it. I automated it!

No Comment From iBlog 1.3.1

It's been a few days now since I went live with my iBlog 1.2->1.3.1 blog conversion, and I still can't get my HaloScan comments to return. Another iBlogger, Jim Phelps, reported that he experienced the same problem upon switching to iBlog 1.3.1, but his comment links reappeared on their own within about 3 days. No such luck for the beoblog.

Excuse My 1.3.1 Mess

I've taken the plunge and have switched to iBlog 1.3.1 and so I'm going through the process of converting all my 1.2 blog entries to the 1.3 format. In the process, I'm also taking this opportunity to break my entries into abstracts and bodies. But then, that's the easiest chore of the conversion.

Where in the World is iBlog 1.3?

Okay, now I'm officially confused! I just fired up iBlog 1.2 to post a "Quote of the Day" entry, and the app asks, "hey, want to download version 1.3.1?" Huh?

iBlog 1.3B6 - Conversion Secret Revealed, Along With a Major Flaw

Here we go again. I fired up iBlog 1.2 last night to add a short entry and the program notified me that Lifli has released version 1.3B6. According to the release notes, this version has:

Mercury in Double Recession

I used to work with a woman who was really into astrology. She always new the position of the stars and planets and would regularly do "readings" for herself and co-workers. Whenever things would start to go wrong around the office, anything from photo-copier breakdowns to server meltdowns, my astrologer co-worker would invariably check the current planetary positions according to her charts and then would announce, "it's to be expected, Mercury is in recession!"
