The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle by Haruki Murakami

This is a reread and again, I'm somewhat disappointed (that's two rereads this month). When I first read it back in the 90s, i was totally enthralled. It was a suspense packed roller coaster of a book, a postmodern thriller, fun. This time I feel more like it's suspenseful chaos. It's still delightful to read the edgy prose of Murakami, but I think I enjoy his books the first time more than later. Also, I love to read his new books when they're new. After Dark and Kafka on the Shore were very good.
