Biography
|
Dear
Bride and Groom, or Event Coordinator: We are excited that you are considering
the Michael Beers Band to play for your reception or event. We pride
ourselves in being the hardest working band in the industry, playing longer
sets and taking fewer breaks than any other band. Our stated goal every time we
play is once we get the guest to the dance floor, we want to keep them there.
And we will, with song after song of great dance music from all the different
eras and genres. Because in the end, no matter how hard we work, it’s the
music—the actual songs—that provide the energy and excitement to
make a reception or event really take off. Many receptions and social events are
open to all ages. The music a band plays must be able to bring those age
groups together and keep them satisfied for four or more hours. This takes
variety in the music, especially in 2007. Most everyone will enjoy a chicken
finger, or a piece of wedding cake, but not everyone will like just all pop,
or all rock. That’s why we’ve thrown into the mix, R & B, swing, Motown,
country, oldies, Latin, and jazz. One of the most important elements a band
must consider for a reception to be successful is volume. A band can’t be too
loud for the room—and we never are. That’s a promise. Second, it’s nice to hear
music that sounds like the original artists, and we work extra hard to make
sure the arrangements and sound of the band does just that. Third, for an
evening to feel genuine, the musicians must want to play and enjoy the music
they are performing. Lastly, the band must be flexible within the parameters
of the event, and be content to focus on helping create the kind of reception
the bride and groom or the event management desires. The Michael Beers Band
knows how to do all these important things, and has hundreds upon hundreds of
receptions and events to back them up. Weddings and social events are just
about all we do, and we know them inside and out. Michael Beers is comfortable being the
master of ceremonies. He knows what to say when it’s time for the
father/daughter dance and dad isn’t anywhere to be found, or when the event
schedule gets out of sync, or the photographer runs out of film. He doesn’t
panic when the band arrives and the stage is not set up, or the acoustics in
the room are terrible, or a guest demands the band play the Chicken Dance, or
Uncle Barry wants to sing a song for his niece, or the fundraising auction
runs an hour over. He has gathered not only great musicians, but friendly
ones—players who love what they do and who want everyone to have the
best time possible. It’s a band that smiles, and doesn’t smoke, or drink, or
take breaks that pull the energy out of the room. Our guitar player, Brian,
is world class, and has spent nine years in Los Angeles as a studio musician.
Our drummer, Pat, is young and so talented that he constantly challenges the
rest of us with his playing. Our vocalist, Marcie, has a voice so pure with a
range so wide that she can sing anything and make it sound great. She can
sound like Gwen Stefani, Alicia Keyes, Nora, Etta James, Natalie Cole, ABBA,
and can even give Michael Jackson a run for his money. She’s a beautiful girl
who lives and breathes to sing. Michael Beers plays the keyboard and his
fingers never stop moving. His left hand will dazzle you with the punchiest
most accurate bass lines that you swear he stole directly from the original
recording. His right hand covers the piano, strings, horns, organs and every
other instrument you can imagine, making this four-piece band sound twice its
size. He’s been an engineer, producer, and a sound-man since college. He’s
“old school” when it comes to knowing what it takes to have a good band, and
how to make them sound great. Watch him call out songs at just the right
place in the reception or event—soft, easy listening music behind cocktails
and dinner, ballads for those who don’t dance fast, swing for the older
guests who can’t dance to the new music, and then when it’s time to fill the
floor, song after song of fun music that you recognize and love. And if
dancing isn’t meant to be a highlight of the event, or it’s early in the
evening behind cocktails or dinner, then just sit back and feel the rhythm,
enjoy the songs and listen and watch as the band sets the mood, comfortable
to be in the background. Please read through our references, look at
the events we’ve played and the venues we’ve played in, and then take a read
through our testimonials. You will see that our history is solid and our
experience unmatched. We are fresh from being chosen as the vocalists for the
Plaza Lighting Ceremony on Thanksgiving Eve, and we’re a founding member of
pwpthelist.com, the Preferred Wedding Professionals Association in Kansas
City, of which the members will all tell you’ve hired the best if you’ve
hired the Michael Beers Band. We look forward to answering any questions you
may have and to hearing you say, “We want to book the Michael Beers Band for
our wedding or event!” Call us soon—we book up fast! Regards and cheers, Michael Beers |

TESTIMONIALS –
WEDDINGS/EVENTS
|
Michael! We continue to hear compliment and rave after rave about
"that band." Most importantly, you were an absolute pleasure
to work with all the way through. What a joy the evening was - thank
you. You can bet that we'll pass the raves on. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear
Michael, We can’t
thank you enough for your part in making our daughter's
wedding the perfect event that it was. Everything
the band did was perfect in every way. The piano
music during the cocktail hour was wonderful and the band
was terrific at the reception. Many of our guests commented
on the wonderful voice of your vocalist that sang with
your band. It was so
nice to deal with such a professional group as your band.
Please do not hesitate to give out our e-mail address
to anyone who needs a reference. Just make sure they make
the subject line: Michael Beers Band. I don't always
open e-mails if I do not know the sender. Again, many
thanks for making music. Sincerely, John and
Nancy Stewart ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
