Don't
let the tweekers see!
is
BJ Rigney. Born in Oakland, BJ and his wife Mel, along with Rita,
RW, and Ada (2 cats 1 dog) reside in Crockett California overlooking
the Carquinez Strait. BJ has been fiddling with computers and music
for roughly 14 years. In the early days it was guitar and bass and
METAL!! that started it all. BJ spent many hours learning his favorite
metal riffs and creating his own in those early days. He had always
been interested in drums but at the time, a drum kit was more than
he could afford. After some saving, BJ finally got a drum kit and
began playing in a couple of punk bands (The Aborted, and Room 237
mostly). After several years of playing drums in these bands and
others, BJ decided it was time to try his hand at making electronic
music. This was another form of music that was out of reach for
many years due to the cost of equipment, but slowly the studio grew
into what it is today. Since 96 BJ has been collecting gear, learning
how to use it, making music, then collecting more gear, then learning
how to use that, then making more music etc. etc.
Today BJ still tries to make time to play drums and guitar, but
his real focus is making music in the studio. At the moment BJ has
a few projects in the works.
These project include:
Realthings, (with jeremiah menez of Root Elements and Root Suit,
the music is mostly groovy, funky, trip hop with hip hop and IDM
elements)
Don't let the tweekers see (his slow music, hip hop/trip hop, electro
with a pinch of experimental electronics)
Wormfood
(his oldest project started in 96, dark, gritty, experimental, glitchy,
techno (his fast music))
Wormfood has several releases around the world on labels like: Spectral
Concepts-USA, USTA-Israel, Tempest Recordings-Australia, and soon
to be Horns and Hoofs-Russia.
Lately BJ has
been mastering some Oakland metal bands (Asunder,
and Stormcrow), he also mastered Grounded.
