Second Overnight Sailing Trip with Kids These are pics from our second overnight trip to Government Island on October 15-16, 2005. We took a Catalina 25 from Island Sailing Club.

Rounding the bouys heading up river. Note the reefed main. We had plenty of wind all the way to the island. Steph at the helm on the way up. Note that the main is "way out," since our daughter doesn't like too much heel. She does like the Catalina 25, however. The sun almost came out. Back under the I-205 bridge. Our daughter took these pictures. The "smily face" barge. We saw about six on this trip. The East dock was filled with power yachts, so we went to the West Dock. Much more comfy than the Santana 23 of our first trrip. Sunset on a cloudy river. Evening snacks before a hike. The kids loved the little dinette table. The V berth was comfy and large enough. Having hatch open was good. We folded down the dinette for her bed. He got the rear quarter berth. "Go fish" before breakfast the next morning. Hot water warming up on the alcohol stove. Morning view of the river. The "out of order" head we didn't use. Nice sink, but we didn't use either the water or waste tanks. More cards before the morning hike. Two other sailboats left the dock before us. Up the ramp. We hiked East first. Then we U-turned and hked the beach back toward the I-205 bridge. The kids found lots of fishing gear on the beach. Steph walks the beach. Her hair curls in damp conditions. She sports the pony tail look. He's all buisiness. Once again, we stop for our daughter, the young photographer. Heading back down river with a nice breeze. Steph back at the helm. She's in complete "tiller hog" mode. Everyone else could fall over the side, and she wouldn't notice. Our home marina's in sight in the distance.
