First Overnight Sailing Cruise

Here are some pics from our first overnight cruise to Government Island on the Columbia River in August, 2005. We sailed a mid 80s Santana 23.

The cabin is provisioned (note Porta-Potty).
We sailed 2/3rds of the entire distance upriver.
Approaching the I-205 bridge.
We motor-sailed beneath the span.
Happy to pass under the bridge.
The entire cruise upriver would last seven hours.
View of West docks at Government Island.
Sunset through the companionway.
Time to make dinner on the docks.
Kids were blown away by the sunset and setting.
We didn't let her do this underway.
A view of our Santana 23 from the island.
We hiked East up the beach for fishing.
Very pastoral and quiet (on a Monday).
Catch of the day.
Playing in the sand.
Hoping for Walleye.
Time for lunch
Wind was good for entire 3 hour trip back.
Main challenge: beating into the wind all the way.
