Proposition 61My take on Proposition 61 -
NO
This is part of my ongoing series of posts on
each of the Propositions we'll be voting on. Here is the
original post, with my ground rules for evaluating propositions, my
scorecard and links to each of my
arguments.
Proposition 61 - No Remember our ground rules - bond measures have an extremely high bar to clear in order to get a yes vote. Ultimately, my vote on this issue comes down to just that. If spending money on children's hospitals is important to the people of California, then we need to actually put it in the budget, not finance it on a credit card. This also adds another 50 million annually to our state budget, which is already running a deficit and will be hard to balance in the first place. Bottom line: This is an expensive bond measure to fund something that, if we deem it important, should be a part of the budget. Posted: Sun - October 31, 2004 at 06:50 PM | | | | | | | |
