For possibly the first time ever, the voters of California actually agreed with me... election results and analysis

Suddenly, I feel like I've stumbled into the Twilight Zone - we had an election in California, and the voters actually agreed with me on all the propositions. True, this election had only two statewide, and one Orange County, measures but that is still unprecedented in my voting history - at least as far as I can remember.

For those with exceptionally short memories, or an entirely lazy scroll mouse finger if you're on the main page, I posted my analysis of the propositions early yesterday. My scorecard, and the eventual results of the election was as follows:

Statewide results
Proposition 81: No (No - 53%, Yes - 47%)
Proposition 82: No (No - 60.9%, Yes - 39.1%)

County Results
Measure A: No (Yes - 75.7%, No - 24.3%)

It was quite pleasurable to see Reiner's preschool initiative go down to such a huge margin, considering that most campaigns for the sake of the children are easily put over on the voters by a barrage of TV ads. Chalk the victory up to the highly effective No on 82 ads, and probably some amount of backlash over the Reiner scandal (though I don't know how many people actually were aware of that).

Measure A's victory isn't too surprising, given that it is only a countywide measure inside the Orange Curtain. I frankly don't know anyone, on any fringe of the political spectrum, who thinks that eminent domain for the purpose of transferring property from a private institution to another is a good idea - but certainly not in the OC.
