A Ride to Brian’s House

The great Canadian philosopher, Red Green, once said that he didn’t have time to do all of the dumb things that he thought up. Some might consider the plan to ride to Brian’s house one of those dumb things.

I live in Trenton, Mi. Brian lives in Flat Rock, Mi. It is approximately 11 miles by bicycle to Brian’s house. Brian and I plan to do this ride using the scenic route.

We will leave my house and turn north instead of south. We will follow the shoreline of the Detroit River, Lake St. Clair, and Lake Huron to Mackinaw. From Mackinaw we will ride along the Lake Michigan shore to somewhere near South Haven or Benton Harbor. We then turn east and head for Brian’s house.

Using this route, the 11 mile trip expands to approximately 1,100 miles. This trip will be slightly longer than our trip to Maine. This also gives us the chance to stop in at Tom Ferstle’s (Bellaire) house.

The map shows the approximate route that we expect to take. The map is courtesy of Hand-McNally.
