More Training Rides!

Keeping up that foraging for food on the road skills active

It has not been that Wes and I have not been riding. We have. He has gone on his trips, I mine. I road PALM, he SAGBRAW . We have been doing one day trips. Keep in mind, we are both active riders with the Downriver Cycling Club , doing our share of Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday club rides. We have been riding, just not touring.

Now, we do have a tour in the works, RALPH. Riding Around the Lower Peninsula H(appily, umorously, opefully) you may supply any "H" word you think will fit. The start date is going to be determined by, interestingly enough, Michigan International Speedway(MIS). Once MIS sets their race weekends, we know when we can start RALPHing. Wes' parents live in the neighborhood of MIS and his oldest daughter is planning on getting married at her grandparents place. They do not want to have the wedding guests mingle with the thousands of race fans on the same weekend. I do not know, no sense of adventure.

Last Thursday, Wes, his youngest daughter Erin, and I headed out to Ann Arbor to give the new loop for the 100 mile route for the Celebration of Cycling a test ride. I have to tell you folks, it is a good ride, lots of scenery, some smooth roads, some bumpy. We will have a food stop on the loop, but that will not be the only eating option. Along the way will be a roadside hot dog stand. They promise a veggie cheese sandwich for the health minded. We stopped and had lunch at Gloria's just off the route. Then again, we have found that the best food is always just a little out of the way.
