On The Road Again

We may hit the road again - someday ......

When we were wrapping up our ride last summer, Wes and I agreed, it was fun, but never again. We were firm on that decision for about two weeks. We were soon lusting over Adventure Cycling maps. Both getting those dreams of open roads. Fantasizing about a life with the only dead line is a campground by sunset. Wanting to hit that open road once more. But where?

We decided this summer was out of the question. The following summer seemed the most reasonable option. But where?

So, independently we hit on following the Mississippi River. It sounded good, it sounded interesting. It just did not have that IT quality. It did not grab our souls. It just sounded fun, and there is nothing wrong with fun. This ride just wasn't IT.

Wes was in South Carolina visiting family when he thought something like going to South Carolina might work. Yeah, just not IT. It was doable, just not it. Williamsburg, VA? Hey, it has that history quality we both love. Jamestown! Williamsbug! Yorktown! It had potential. It did not have the IT quality for us.

Wes' oldest daughter has thrown a monkey wrench into our plans. She has decided to get married in June of '06, pushing our start day into late June or early July. Wes was not thrilled at the idea of heading south during the hotter months. Maybe we head south another time.

So where? Then the wise one struck gold!
Wes is the wise one - well he is a wise something...., but I digress.
He found IT!

We are going to ride around the lower peninsula of Michigan - literally. We (I really ) have dubbed the ride -

Riding Around the Lower Peninsula Happily - or RALPH for short.

Just two FROGS RALPHing.
