other_side My goal was met - a good quality finish (probably better than the original) at a reasonable cost, producing a car that won't win best of show trophys but will be one I can proudly drive down the road.

We discussed the next step in the painting process, color sanding and buffing to produce a flat and mirror-like surface. The build-up of clear should allow even an amatuer like me to buff it out without going through into the color. If you don't keep the buffer in one place for too long, and if you don't hit an edge, and, you know, the buffing process works by actually melting the top layer of paint and helping it "flow" out flat. It should be buffed out within three days, or it'll be rock-hard, and much more difficult to work on.
