dash_in_primer I found one painter nearby who seemed interested in applying the color. He has a small one man collision shop, and has been doing body work for a couple of decades. He stopped by one afternoon to scope the car, and said that yeah, it looked like a few hour job - I do all the sanding, masking, and he just sprays color and clear. Oh, and by the way, that hood looks like crap, and you won't be happy with paint on that.

So, I spent some more time in the fill and sand mode, and got the hood looking better, as well as a couple of other minor spots. I found I could wait till the neighbor left on an errand, shoot a little primer without worrying too much about overspray, and not have a problem.

After a couple of months, I had a firm date with the painter, arranged for trailer transport, thanked George Bush for paying for the painting, and we left.
