As I moved things to storage, I noticed that there was "grinding grime" over everything. My wife didn't care for having her gardening tools covered with gunk (soil's OK, I guess), and I didn't like get my hands dirty from just picking up a tool. In rebuilding shelves and storage, one of the goals was to keep as much under cover as possible, and make the rest easy to clean. To that end, the shelf unit directly behind the Mini has doors, most tools will be kept in the tool cabinet, and the walls were painted in a gloss white that not only lightens up the place, but is easy to wipe down. The concrete floor is now solid and coated with a sealing finish, not flaking and semi-covered with peeling paint. The current problem will be to find time to continue the Mini work, which has to begin with the removal of rust accumulated during its time in storage. I still have about 30 feet of cabinetry and shelving to build for the house, so I'm afraid that if you read this page on a very occasional basis, you probably won't miss much. |
