One of our readers (OK, perhaps our only reader) made a comment that this ongoing work was OK, but he'd really be interested when I got into the engine work. My plan was to complete all the body work, paint, interior, and then finish off with the engine. When I tried to explain my rationale for this sequence, I couldn't defend it, so I said, "What the hell!" and started on bits of the engine. Overall, the big part of the engine work was completed by the previous owner. The insides (pistons, transmission) have been renewed (or at least cleaned up). The bores are smooth, and most of the parts are there. One of the most obvious missing pieces is a completed head assembly - I've got no valves, springs, etc. So that becomes the first engine subproject. |
