In between this time and now (a couple of years) I had more or less decided to scap the 'glass hood and go with a real metal front end. But then, the idea of waiting for parts, making all the little missing pieces, painting the inside with the engine in place (or figuring out how to take it out and where to put it), having yet another major hurdle to clear before roadability - I went back to the 'glass hood.
