Installing a speedometer cable in a Mini with the engine in requires dexterity, small arms, and, I suspect, a Mini with a removable front end. This is a case of "they built the speedometer drive and then built the car around it." The duct tape was an attempt to save my arm as I squeezed it down a tiny opening behind the engine. It didn't work, and I ended up removing the radiator so I could get at the drive end from the side. And guess what? All done, speedo still registers zero. At least the cable is there. *PS. The first layer of duct tape was "sticky side out". |
