Summer Announcements

Hope everyone is enjoying their summer vacation,
and practicing! Even though band camp is still two
months away, there's some business that needs to be
addressed this month in July. First of all - the
Jazz Band's jam sessions will have to be delayed to
begin in August. I thought that I'd be able to make
Tuesday's in July, but the construction on the
kitchen in my home has really taken up every minute
of every day. I'll also be away later this month,
so August will be our best time to begin preparing
for next year, and it will also be when our color
guard begins their Tuesday rehearsals.
Next - section leaders - I need to get phone lists to all of the section leaders. Mrs. Mason and I will be mailing and emailing those lists to all student leaders with instructions. We need to make phone calls to both new members (or prospective members) and our current members. We need to make sure that every high school student knows that they have to be enrolled in a band class, and that every member has been able to access copies of their music from our website. These lists will be mailed out before July 11th along with the invitation to the section leader seminar to be held on Monday, August 11th. In August we'll also need to contact students who have not paid their band camp fees or their New Orleans payments to make sure their still participating.
Lastly - new students! Anyone interested in joining band should contact me as soon as possible! Email will be the best, do not call the band office as no one will be their until August! Send me an email and we'll put you on our member list - it's as simple as that. Students interested in Marching Band should also be sure to let me know so that we can include you in our band camp preparations. I also need to send all new members the password for our "members only" section of the website. If you don't yet have the password - send me an email to request it!
One more thing - New Orleans! A letter with a payment schedule was sent to all marching band members last month. For any new members that are joining marching band - it's not too late to go to New Orleans! Just send your $300 deposit to BHS Band New Orleans Trip, PO Box 303, Bayonne, NJ 07002. DO NOT send money to BHS as it will not be received until mid-September when the summer mail is delivered to me!
