Why is it?

Strange.

We are not meant to go to the 6300 block of Delmar Blvd. We am informed of such most emphatically every time we try, in the form of a cold, torrential rain. It doesn't seem to matter where we're going on that block -- to eat, to the cinema -- it rains buckets.

Maybe it's just that we're west of Skinker. There's no problem with us going east. We can go to the Pageant for a show, or to the Arts Council space to see Magic Smoking Monkey Theater. Both are only two blocks east. We can walk up and down before or after the show, people-watching, window shopping. Clear nights greet us. Balmy ones, even.

But woe betide us should we plan an outing that has us turning left from Skinker onto Delmar, instead of right. The heavens open forth early, ensuring not only that we must dash about in the cold and wet once we arrive, but that the drive itself will be miserable. And it rains until well after we are back home again.

I don't care. It's not going to keep me from the place.
