Thoughts from a morning walk

Random bits

Whoa, what happened to The Hot? We won't break 80° F here today says the weatherman, and we won't see 90° all week. It's nowhere near time to put away the shorts, but I'd better try jeans and wind-breakers on the monsters to see who needs replacements, lest I wake up some morning and it's 55° out instead of 65° and everybody's ankles are showing in last year's jeans, or worse, they won't fasten. We've only two or three weeks left before shorts weather is over as far as I'm concerned -- how my boys feel about that is another matter altogether.

Flashback-city: one of the kids at Large High School drives a circa-1980 Bluebird, the powder-blue with royal-blue decals version of the Firebird. It's a year or two older than the one that a friend of mine drove in high school. And of course the Large High School is 2.5 times bigger (population-wise) than my high school was.

Billy Idol's Dancing with Myself is too damn fast to walk to going uphill. I didn't even notice that particular stretch of my LHS walking-loop was uphill, until I was passing a retired couple walking the same direction and used the music to help. * Puff, puff * Dance Commander by Electric Six OTOH really is at a marching tempo, quite odd for a European-Techno-Punk-ish song. Oh, and memo to me: go get Scissor Sisters' I Can't Decide off iTunes. Ooh, wouldn't that be a wicked ring-tone to assign to someone? BTW, Hubs, re: SexyBack? Get with it, old man. * grins *

It was trash pick-up day along part of my walking loop, and I noticed that some had painted their house number on the inside of a lid. Wise move, given the collectors' seeming inability to secure the lids on windy days.

Every year when the roadside "weeds" start blooming, I think to myself that I need to get my camera out and take a photo of some Queen Anne's Lace and chicory blooming together, and write a nice entry about why that's special to me. Of course I never have my camera when I'm just out running errands or whatever and see them together, so it never happens. Ten years have past now since they first affected me that way, and I'm beginning to think I need to just write the damn entry and to hell with the photo. Oh, and that next time we get new phones, I will go ahead and get a camera phone.
