Back in the saddle, etc.

The threat of a swimsuit works wonders

I'm exercising again. Going to the Y as many days a week as I can manage; riding the stationary bikes every day and using the weight machines every-other day. Yeah, I should walk as well as bike. Tough.

I'm taking most of the carbs out of my diet again. Yeah, it'd be better if I'd watch the fats, too. But you can have my starches and sweets, or you can have my cheese and meat, but not both. Sorry.

Why yes, this is my busiest time of the year, and also the time with the most opportunities to indulge in delicious, unhealthy treats and alcohol. Why do you ask? Christmas treat making will start up here soon, and I will be in trouble with a capital T, and that rhymes with C, and C is for cookie (that's good enough for me.) What, you can't connect pop-culture references like that?

The up side is that when I exercise I don't feel the need to nap, which means the time spent doesn't make much difference in my schedule. The gap just happens in a different part of the day. And curiously, the tighter my schedule, the more likely I am to get up out from in front of the computer and go to the Y.

No, I don't expect to do size-wise in a month what took me six last year, but at least I'm starting 10 pounds lighter than last time. I'll settle for not lopping over my waistband quite so enthusiastically.
