Blech

THAT wasn't fun -- Squick alert

So, Saturday evening's supper sat on my stomach for 6 hours giving me the cold sweats, then backed out the way it went in. It was a Belgian waffle with warm homemade blueberry topping, and everyone else in the house had the same, so food poisoning is out as a cause. I had no problem until I ate it so I'm not thinking it was anything I ate earlier that day. I had no further problems after I got rid of it, so it wasn't viral. All I can guess is that it was just too much sweet stuff. OK, lesson number one learned -- this old bod cannot make a meal of just sweets any more.

I laid around all day Sunday sleeping off and on and sipping Gatorade. By bedtime I'd had that and crackers and toast and was starting to feel hungry, so I figured the next day would be back to normal. Wrong. A piece of string cheese late Monday morning tied my stomach in a knot, so it was chicken broth with rice for lunch. I did down a small bit of mac-and-cheese for supper with no ill effects. Tuesday I was pretty much back to my normal diet, but my salad with grilled chicken that night created more indigestion than a meal of such innocuous ingredients would suggest. Lesson number two learned -- this old bod does not recover from even the simplest GI problem quite so quickly any more.

Sigh.
