Some of these are quite cool

...and some are just obnoxious, but there it is.

Sarahlynn at Yeah, but Houdini didn't have these hips pointed to the Trisomy 21 merch at CafePress. Some of it was pretty fun, especially the "I've got more chromosomes than you" stuff. I hopped over from there to the autism section.

Let me say right now, AND EMPHASIZE -- I do not want any of this stuff. I just found some of it good and some of it not, and I'm commenting on it.

Most of it was pretty predictable (rainbow puzzle pieces abound) and some fairly trite (I heart my autistic son/grandson/daughter/nephew/etc. and all the "angel without wings" nonsense.) There was some I really could have used when #2-Son was young, like the "Parenting advice not required unless you have a child with autism" merch, and the "Yes, my son has autism. No, he's not like Rainman," stuff. There was, thankfully, very little of the mercury / vaccine crap. (Don't try to sell me on that repeatedly-proven-incorrect nonsense. I'll just delete your comment / email.) Only a couple of the "Welcome to Holland" designs. (That "heartwarming essay" makes me barf. Please don't send it to me. Ever.)

My favorites for the autistic: "What, is my autism showing?" "I don't do small talk," "I'm with neurotypical. (pointing)," "Eye contact is overrated," and "I have an IEP and I'm not afraid to use it."

My faves for the Aspie: "Warning: May be loquacious, declamatory, prolix, multiloquent, pedantic, pleonastic, verbose, sesquipedalian, voluble, wordy, and generally run off at the mouth" and "Advanced vocabulary, Sensitive to criticism, Particular topic obsessive, Endless talking, Rigid, Gifted, Easily distressed, Remiss, Socially challenged." Yeah, there are a couple of people in this house who could wear either of those.

My other fave: "Defeat Autism? No, Thank You."
