Fuseboxx gained national attention when they won the 2003 edition of the Red Horse Musiklaban competition. The novelty of having a Prog band in the competition displaying virtuosic command of their respective instruments resulted in the judges' votes being unanimous. Earlier in the year, they independently released an EP titled, "Listen." The prize for winning Musiklaban was a distribution deal with Universal Records for a new album. The band took two years to finish the album to ensure the quality of the product. This eponymous album featured the lineup of founding member Eric Tubon on Synthesizers, Abby Clutario on Vocals and Keyboards, Rodney Vidanes on Bass, Albert Montinola on Guitar, and the only new member since recording the EP Lester Banzuelo on Drums.
The one word that best describes what differentiates Fuseboxx from the most popular bands in the international Prog Metal scene is "balance." Most Prog Metal bands sound like a star vehicle for the Guitarist. In Fuseboxx, all members are given their moments in the spotlight. The Bass Guitar is not buried in the mix, and Synthesizers aren't subordinate to Guitars. Abby Clutario's Vocals display influences primarily mainstream, but she rocks hard when called for.
They lead the Progressive Rock community of the Philippines not only through their achievements, but through their efforts to promote the genre. These efforts are conducted in partnership with their fan club, The Colony. The Prog Festival, "In Progression" is the result. The third installment happened on September 26, 2008.
In 2007, the band parted ways with Montinola. Fuseboxx temporarily worked with Sid Pablo as session player. In August they auditioned three Guitarists at an event called, "Magpakilala Ka Sa Fuboxx (Introduce Yourself To Fuseboxx)." The winner was Mico Ong. His first recording with the band is a song on the Sampaguita tribute album. Sampaguita was the queen of Pinoy Rock in the seventies. This tribute album was released by Ballyhoo Records.
Fuseboxx now has a page in the Vancouver, Canada based www.progarchives.com.
Two side projects have been formed featuring Fuseboxx members. Moving Pictures featuring Eric and Rodney does Fusion and Avant-Garde music. FireFly <Logic> featuring Abby and Eric does Electronic Ambient music. Both projects have been gigging around Manila.
As of October 2008, there is bad news and good news. The bad news is that they were dropped by their label in the Philippines. The good news is that they were dropped by their label in the Philippines. Although, no official announcements have been made, there are deals in place for international releases of their next two albums. The first, is a re-record of the music from their self-titled debut. The next will be the second proper album.
On March 2008, Rodney Vidanes has parted ways with Fuseboxx because of his Family obligations. The new Bassist is Arvie Vardeleon from the band Shock Opera.
