Back in 1999, Pepe Manikan (keyboards) met and jammed with Roger Alcantara (bass) at Transound studio. Pepe then met Chad Robles (guitar) at Perfect Pitch, a music store in Manila. Chad at the time had been working with Loubert Vidal (drums). Their common influences included Symphonic Prog, Prog Metal, and Jazz Rock Fusion artists as well as Modern Classical and Baroque composers. The ingredients were right for forming a home-grown band that Filipino fans of Progressive Metal could be proud of. A couple of years later they gained a vocalist in the person of Benedick Reyes. The original lineup of Eternal Now became complete.
Roger left in 2003 because of his work obligations. His spot was ably filled in by former New Jersey resident, Arvin Gatmaitan. During this time the band conceptualized and produced their concept album "Filipinas 1800" which will be out sometime in 2008. The album is expected to showcase the bands musical approach, songwriting skill & technical capability. Roger has since returned to the lineup. For a few months in 2007 Eternal Now worked with a new singer, Ian Gomez formerly of Second Wind, Xanctuary Next Level. Benedick has since returned, restoring the original lineup.
As of 2008, Eternal Now is currently working without a singer. Roger Alcantara is an endorser for Aria Pro II Guitars. There is a Roger Alcantara Signature Model Bass Guitar. Chad Robles is an endorser for Ibanez Guitars.
Chad Robles and Loubert Vidal will be in Stuart Hamm's backup band for a concert in the Philippines scheduled for April 2009.
