Extreme Makeover: Grocery Store Edition!!

Prunes go glam.

The Pitch to The Network: Maligned fruit gets a second chance at life. It’s a story of hope and inspiration. In the snack aisle.

Sunday Night Teaser: Tune in to see how difficult life was for the lowly prune. The scatological jokes. The never-ending ties to the old and infirm. But that was before. Tonight at 8:00 on Extreme Makeover, you’ll see the new face of the old prune!

Storyboard:

Scene 1: Prune appears sad, worn out, and lacking “excitement.”

Scene 2: Prune enjoys short heyday during fat-free craze of the 90s as bakers discover that you can replace fat in recipes with prunes!

Scene 3: It’s now the early 00s and the prune has once again fallen out of favor

Scene 4: Controversy hits the prune industry. Marketers are called blasphemous for wanting to rename the prune. The prune has a crisis of confidence when someone suggests losing the prune moniker in favor of the newer, hipper, dried plum.

Scene 5: The dried plum struts its stuff.

Scene 6: With its juicy, new name, the dried plum tries on a few tight outfits in preparation for the reveal.

The Reveal: In its new Sunsweet Ones premium packaging, the old prune debuts as the new, individually-wrapped dried plum. The laughingstock has the final laugh as people throw Ones into their purses like Hershey’s Kisses. Out of the bathroom and into the candy bowl; it’s a quintessentially American makeover story.
