2003's state Science Olympiad (SO) competition was held on Saturday, April 26 at North Dakota State University in Fargo. The SO team from DLB placed 3rd in the Class B schools division and 5th place over all Class A and Class B schools. The first place team among the Class B schools and the first place team over all winner advanced to the national SO competition which was held at Ohio State University on May 10. This was the third year in a row that a DLB junior high team had attended the state competition.
