Want everyone to know you read this site religiously? Want to do all kinds of work for me without compensation? I didn't think so. But I figured that I might as well give you the chance to live the dream. If you glance over to your left, you will observe how the banners look when presented upon my site. I have summoned ten of the little buggers so far-- all of them contain my blood, sweat, and tears. I kept them all the same shape and size to avoid confusion about the code required to insert them into html. I may someday create 'advanced banners' where I only place the images themselves on this page and assume you can figure how to transport them into your code.
It is surprisingly simple to slap up someone's banner on your website. Notice how I managed to post ten without consulting a single rocket scientist! I expect you could accomplish such a procedure in about five minutes if you had already formed a preference for where you want to hang the endearing banner of your choice. If you are masterfully skilled, it will require a commitment of about 60 seconds of your precious life, but humans of such skill will rarely be visiting here. They will make their own banner for this site and then mock those who cannot compete.
On a side note, if other people make more banners for me, I would probably post them here as well. Hint hint. How about it, you artists?
Get my banner on your site in just SIX easy steps!
There you go! Thanks for your interest.
I realize that the last step of my list may be more than one step for the experts, but some people won't even use it. I think that it will balance out in the end such that the averge number of steps is six. I also hope that I never discover someone has used the banner for something inappropriate. I would hate to have to set up some terms of use to protect my image or something crazy. I suppose if you are planning on doing something awful with it, I won't see it for months because you won't be emailing me about it. I wish you the best of luck then. Also, evil is not the same as inappropriate.
Gentlemen, to evil!

Get my banner on your site in just SIX easy steps!
- Requirements
- An internet connection
- Your own website with at least another 6k of available space
- The ability to manually insert code into HTML files
- The desire to let the world know you come to this site
- The smarts to realize that the numbers next to the banner are not going to appear on your site if you do this, they are just there to make it easier for people to give me feedback about the banners.
- Willingness to engage in reasonable use: Please don't alter the banners or code in inappropriate ways that are out of line with the spirt of this site.
- Pick out the banner you want from the left hand column.
I have placed a border around some of the images. Those borders are not actually part of the image, they are generated by the HTML code around it. The provided code assumes that you want no border around the image that you have download. If you do want a 1 or 2 pixel border, just insert a 1 or 2 into the portion of the code that says border="0" down in the code.
- Right-click on your chosen banner and save it to your harddrive.
I ask that you download them and then host the image on your server because it will help you in the long run. If you directly link to the images on my server, you will suddenly have useless code if I ever reorganize my files. Better for you to have it on your own webserver under your control. The banners are very small, so you shouldn't have trouble with bandwidth limits.
I have named the files with the pattern atommooreXX.jpg. If you want to choose a new name, feel free to do so once you have the file. Since you probably will not have all ten on your site, there is no reason for you to keep the whole name if you are VERY concerned about bandwidth.
- Upload that image to your website
If you don't know how to do this, it is probably going to be too tough for you to insert this code into your html. Find someone who can help you set it up. If you follow all these steps, you should never have to touch the code again unless you want to change the image or delete it completely. Now, if my site goes down forever, then I apologize, but at least you now have a small memento.
- Copy and Paste the following code into your desired HTML file.
<!-- Begin AtomMoore's Banner Code -->
<center>
<a title="Adam Moore's Website and Journal" href="http://homepage.mac.com/atommoore/news/index.html" target="_blank">
<img src="PATH TO YOUR UPLOADED FILE" alt="Adam Moore's Banner" width="105" height="35" border="0">
</a>
</center>
<!-- End AtomMoore's Banner Code -->
- Drop me a line that you are linking to my site. I will probably end up linking to you!
If you do not want to email me, you are welcome to just leave your webaddress in the comments here: (if the comments load). This will also be another place that other visitors to this site can find your page.
- Tweak the Code to make it fit your site!
Image address -- You need to specify the path to your uploaded file. For example, if you 1) remanmed it "atomsbanner.jpg", 2) saved it in a folder named images, and 3) are attaching this banner to your main index.html -- then you would need to insert scr="images/atomsbanner.jpg" to have your page load the picture. If you save it in the same directory as the html file, then you would just need to insert the name of the file in between the quotation marks.
If this is still very confusing to you, you could right click on this page and look at the source code (as if that is an easy thing to understand) for my 10 banners You will realize that my banners are deep in my website that my path is images/banners/atommoorexx.jpg . Finally, if you and your friends cannot figure it out, try contacting me.
Border Size -- By default it is set to zero. On the left, you will notice I have added a single pixel border around the image.
Alignment (<center>) -- can be deleted if you want it to be on the left of your page. You could considered aligning it to the right if have a strange page. I am assuming you have a side bar like me, and will want this banner to be in the center of that sidebar.
Link (href=") -- If you selected one of the images that read "brilliant retort" because you like my journal more than the rest of the site, you could insert the link "http://homepage.mac.com/atommoore/news/brilliant_retort/index.html in place of the current link. This would take someone from your site directly to the main journal page. This is fine by me since my journal page is pretty easy to navigate and it has the FAQ.
WARNING- Changing the link could be dangerous if you try and link to some other random page on the site and then I move that page or rename it. Of course, if I ever totally move to a new webaddress, you will have this problem regardless of what you do. If I am moving, I will do my best to alert people well in advance. Also, I promise not to move my journal's address, since I have just told you I am fine with you linking to it.
There you go! Thanks for your interest.
And do be sure to let me know that you are linking to this site.
