Thanksgiving 2004

Thanksgiving has come and gone. This is what I remember ...

So another Thanksgiving has come and gone. Right. The dinner was held at my parent's house up in Kennett Sq. Pa. After 17 years in the house, this looks like it could have been our last Thanksgiving dinner at this house. Rumor is, the house is close to selling. Here's to hoping it sells, but it'll still be sad to see the place change owners. So, we made the most of what we could. The American contingent of the Guschl family all made it in addition to Rosanne Graham, Barbara and Rick Arhardt, the Wecks and, of course, Sebastian.

Wines, martinis and sodas were held all night as well as delicious appetizers. The bird was great and I was very full at the end of the night. But, that's what Thanksgiving is for.

On to the photos in no particular order.

Appetizers in the family room. Note Joanna who flew in all the way from L.A.

Sebastian in his new hat his Aunt Becky made for him. She's gotten into knitting and knitting and knitting and knitting and knitting ....

*Also note: Becky is sick of also being a subject of my photos.

Scenes from around the table. The table prior to dinner.

The turkey in the oven. It's just sitting there waiting for me to eat. Good news, though. I eventually had that opportunity.

OK, I'll explain this one. Sebastian is freaky obsessed with drinking out of regular cups and glasses. Once he spots it, he starts grabbing. He even likes Coca-Cola® now. Such a Guschl.

More scenes from around the table. So, the chicken suit was brought out (Sebastian's Halloween costume). We thought it'd be hilarious if a chicken were to gnaw on a turkey bone. As I has mentioned, there was wine and martinis has throughout the night.

Hey, let's feed the cow a hamburger.

It's along those lines.

Tommy and the fridge. And the bird. Actually, TWO DIFFERENT birds. One was grilled on a BBQ grill. Charred, if you will. The other was made by my mom, Char, in the oven like the Pilgrims did it.

So, here's the joke. One side of the platter was "Charred," the other side "Charred." It works better when spoken, since the two words are written the same. Ah, the hilarity of heteronyms. Never mind. Moving on ...

Auntie Joanna and Sebastian in costume. My dad video taping Sebastian pulling Allison's hair while being held by Barb.

More scenes from around the table. Auntie Joanna had also gotten Sebastian a new suede jacket. Check out the zit on the 6 month old. Kids are hitting puberty earlier and earlier these days.

Dad saying grace, then eventually passing the duty to Candy Weck (not pictured). Jocelyn had raspberries.

Looks like Sebastian takes after his father by putting things in his mouth. Whatever that means.

Anyway, good times had by all. Oh, and my parent's friends are REALLY into politics when alcohol is involved.
