Conductor's Corner
The spring season for OPYO is going to be an interesting and exciting one! On March 14th, 2010, the Youth Symphony of the Ozarks will present an "extra" concert for our year. This concert will be at the Walton Arts Center and will feature the Butterfly Lover’s Violin Concerto, a well-known and loved composition from China, plus the nationally famous award winning Irish Dancers of Fayetteville, coached by Judy McCafferty. OPYO’s own Thomas Chun-yu Chen, conductor of the ANDANTE ensemble and formerly violinist in the Taiwan presidential string quartet, will perform as the soloist for the concerto.
You won't want to miss this exciting concert! Tell your friends about it and watch for tickets soon! The Butterfly Lover's Violin Concerto is rarely performed in the USA and the Irish Dancers are truly exciting to watch. The Youth Symphony of the Ozarks will accompany them both. The YSO is honored to have several professional players from NASO join us for this concert. The opportunity for a student to sit next to a fine professional is an excellent learning experience and we are pleased to have this occur.
As always, the OPYO is reaching and striving for excellence in all our activities. If you are a student and would like to be a part of the march to musical excellence, please join us in January! You will find the necessary information on our Auditions page. We welcome you to join us!
