We must send a message to the governor and to
our legislators that their actions will severely undermine our
pensions and our retirement
system, not to mention the fact that school funding reform
is once again being ignored. We must act on all fronts, whether through
phone calls, one-on-one meetings, emails or by participating in the
May 6th Lobby Day! We ask all ATA members to please do your part during
this critical time.
- Do you want your
TRS contribution that comes out of your paycheck to go from
9.4% to 11.4%?
- Do you want
to have to work until you are 67 before collecting your
full
pension?
- Do you want your retirement annuity to drop from 75%
to 70% of your salary?
- Do you want the Final Average
Salary used in determining your pension benefit to be calculated
on your last 8 years of teaching, rather than the last four?
- Do
you want the amount of your pension annuity to be a guaranteed
amount (Defined Benefit Plan), or do you want it to be susceptible
to the volatile market fluctuations (Defined Contribution
Plan)?
- Do you want the TRS Board to be
run by political appointees, or by duly elected trustees?

Stop them from tampering with our pensions
