Some 1,200 delegates representing IEA K-12 teachers, higher education personnel, educational support professionals, retirees and student members attended the 153rd meeting of the IEA Representative Assembly from March 8th -10, 2007 at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare Hotel in Rosemont. Among them were four of our very own ATA members - Ann Buch, Janet Joy, John Katzenmayer and Lorrie Palm.
The RA, the highest policy-making body of the IEA, brought together representatives from all of the IEA regions and local associations to act on resolutions, reports and recommendations of the Board of Directors and motions by fellow delegates. The meeting is the culmination of a year long effort to ensure that member needs and interests are integrated into the daily workings of the organization.

Initially, delegates attended open hearings where they gathered crucial information on issues facing the Association. The remaining days were spent on conducting business and making policy, including the all-important discussions on how your dues dollars are spent.
