FIGURES and PUPPETSFIGURES and PUPPETSOver the years, our workshop has handled repairs, renovation, and restoration of figures and puppets of nearly every make. We are experienced with and have repaired puppets and vent figures by Frank Marshall, Theo Mack, Revello Petee, John Carrol, Jack Coats, Fred & Madeline Maher, George "Pinxy" Larsen, Glenn & George McElroy, Howie Olson, Cecil Gough, LeMare, Quisto, Insull/Davenport, D.T.Ellis, Glenn Cargyle, Paul Ashley, Velma Dawson, Bil Baird, Frank Paris, Sky Highchief, and many others. We have also performed emergency repairs on the figures of a few living artists as well, with thier full authorization.
We have been entrusted with the care. maintainence, and restoration of many rare and irreplaceable puppets and figures, and every figure that comes into our shop for repairs is afforded the same TLC treatment!
Most of our clients have requested total
renovations to thier puppets and vent figures to make them look
and work like new (in most cases, the specific request was not
to treat the items as antiques....they were still working earning
thier owners a living). Occaisionally though, we are asked to
do more conservative restorations on vintage figures & puppets.
This involves carefully removing non-original elements and retaining
the aged elements. Either way, our workshop can handle the job.
In a few cases, we have been asked to do a conservative restoration
on the original, and at the same time produce a fiberglas clone
of the original incorporating more modern improvements. In this
way, sentimental or antique value is preserved, and an improved,
more mechanically reliable working copy is made for use in performances.
