Etruscan -- Northern European Link?

memo to self: Take a closer look at Etruscan culture. Their mythology is Indo-European in origin, with many deities corresponding very closely to the Northern European ones (some names are exact), and they used a runic system of writing that resembles VERY closely Northern European and Anglo-Saxon runesets. Herodotus claims they Etruscans came from Lydia in Southern Turkey, and I'm drawing a possible connection between that and Snorri Sturluson's account of the Aesir coming out of Asia. Could Snorri have been influenced by Herodotus? Could the Etruscans have been a wandering Germanic tribe? Their DNA does not match up with that of Turkey, although the cattle shows an Eastern influence.

Arrividerci for now. More on this later, perhaps.
