A Link and a Thought

According to the search function in my blog software (not available on the site, as of now), I've only mentioned David Wilcox once before in this blog. Strange, that an artist who's had such an effect on my life would have so little mention in this journal. Someday I'll have to tell the story of how I was introduced to his music by a friend now dead, and how long it took me to divorce the music from the pain.

Anyway, I ran across this fascinating bit via Mr. Wilcox's website: Click here for a written and spoken poem about the "War on Terror."

Three years ago, the majority would have dismissed it as liberal left-wing commie pinko propaganda. I think that view's changing, though. After all, look what happened to the Dixie Chicks just 2 years ago. They're still banned on most radio stations. But just today news broke that Moby called President Bush stupid and a "crazy white guy" in Brazil. There's hardly any outrage at all.

Google the word "failure," and look at the top hit (courtesy of Fox News).

The political landscape when it comes to the "War on Terror" is changing. And maybe it's about fricking time. Maybe we need to think about what we're doing, after 4 years and no end in sight.

Anyway, that's my political entry for this year or so. I try to avoid politics as much as possible. But definitely check out the Wilcox poem.
