So, as usual when I'm on one of these trips, I'm
totally behind on entries. Since I'm all packed and leaving Albuquerque in the
morning, and it's 1 AM now, I'm not going to have a chance to talk about
everything that's happened in-depth at this time. Sorry about
that.
In the event that I do get around
to writing about the events of this Asatour at a later date, here's a list of
highpoints with some basics.
• Southwest Moot -- I had actually started
an entry on this, but it's still in draft form. The Moot took place at Golden
Gate Canyon State Park, just outside Golden, Colorado. I met lots of great
people, had some amazing experiences, and got to camp for the first time in a
while. Special thanks to Thorolf for all his help in getting me
registered while I was away in Iraq!
• After returning to Albuquerque from the
Moot, I attended a blot and sumbel led by Bill Bainbridge in the Sandia
mountains above Albuquerque. Other attendees were BobTheSane and a couple of
new locals, Greg and Kristen. Also while in town, i had dinner with Bill
Bainbridge and his wife Barb. These were both great times and, along with the
time spent together at the Moot, helped me in getting to know Bill
better.
• No visit to Albuquerque would feel
complete without chances to visit with Erich and Celeste. Their lives remain busy as
always, but they were able to find a little time to meet with the wandering
heathen. Incidentally, in case I haven't plugged it lately, feel free to nag
Erich about his upcoming online heathen/music-oriented embroidery business,
Wyrd
Stitches. I'm including the link although it seems to be down at the
time of this writing.
• I spent an evening with Grundair, BobTheSane, and RoguesPride. Good conversations!
• High on my list is definitely getting to
meet The Seiðman. We talked until 2 am about
life, weddings, the Red Man, heathenry, music, politics... we talked a lot. I
also got to meet his lovely wife, 2 youngest children, and got to eat menudo for
the first time! I look forward to future visits and discussions with my new
friend.
On top of all this, I got a
buttload of new books, new thoughts, and general new crap. I look forward to
sharing the thoughts with ya'll, when it's not 2 AM and when I'm not hitting the
road fairly bright and early.
