Asawiki? Wha...?

"I just had another one of my brilliant ideas..." -- Blair Warner, constantly, on The Facts of Life. And maybe, just maybe, I did.

OK, so remember that one entry, where I ranted about people using encyclopedias to learn how to be heathen? Yeah, I barely did myself. Here. This should jog your memory.

Well, I haven't really changed my mind. We have a vibrant world of Lore. However, sometimes it's good to have a lot of information handy, and if done right, then that information can be very valuable.

And so, I have an announcement to make. What follows is the stock announcement text; feel free to swipe it and post it elsewhere, so long as you don't violate other locations' spam policies, or send it out to all your "friends" with threats of dire consequences if they don't in turn send it out to 2,746 people in the next 34 seconds...

Asawiki Announcement

Announcing the creation of a new heathen wiki!

The Asawiki Project was created in order to provide a common ground for basic information on all aspects of Asatru and other branches of heathenry, worldwide. To further that end, a series of wikis are being established to provide an online, user-edited encyclopedia of that basic information, in a politically neutral environment.

(For more on the subject of wikis, please see this wikipedia article.)

Currently, the Asawiki is available in English and Danish. More languages will be added as they are requested and editors who speak that language natively can be located. To submit a request, contact admin@asawiki.com

A few quick pointers:

1. Information posted to the wiki should be politically neutral, verifiable, and non-personal in nature. The idea here is the creation of an online encyclopedia of information. Inappropriate information may be edited out without warning. Sources should be documented, and the use of copyrighted material should be limited to short, clearly-marked quotations.

2. Please familiarize yourself with the GNU Free Documentation License and other information available at the bottom of each screen of the wiki. Those documents describe the terms of use.

3. Registration is not required. Anyone can edit the wiki, with or without registering. However, registration will allow you access to certain features, such as email notification of changes, as well as the ability to track which articles you have edited. The privacy policy describes what information is kept.

4. To get things started, some basic articles and stubs have been created. Feel free to add information to these, or create articles of your own.

We hope you'll help to make this project successful, and a valid contribution to the heathen community, worldwide.

That's really all I have to say. Please visit, and please start posting information!

.... And I hope this is one of MY brilliant ideas.
