Closer To Free

It's finally my last night at Kunsan Air Base.

I suddenly realized the other day that this is the longest I've lived in one place since 1997. I've been here for almost a year, and the only comparison in that length of time was an 8-month stint in California.

Now it's over, and even though I've had a great experience here, it also reminds me of why I LIKE moving around constantly. I'm so tired of being in one place that I can hardly wait until tomorrow after work, when I'll get on the bus to go, in words similar to David Wilcox's, to the big airport to fly to the bigger airport to fly to another big airport to fly to a littler airport to fly to what's probably the littlest airport of them all.

I've been cleaning tonight; trying to get this place as neat and tidy as possible for the next person. It's never going to be perfect. There will be DNA of mine in this room (hair, you pervs) until they demolish the building. That crap that builds up around the bathroom faucet -- that's not going away either. There are things that have been stuck to the kitchen floor much longer than my tenancy, and have become an inherent part of its molecular makeup.

Umm... anyway, I'm leaving here, and I'm not suited to staying in one place for a year at a time. Or else I just haven't found the right place...
