Some of you may not know me. Some of you, after
reading here, may decide that it would be better if you didn't. Some of you may
find you don't know me as well as you thought... OK. This is just stupid
opening crap. You know why I do this? I do this because I don't like talking
about myself. Specifically. Those of you who have met me in person may wonder
at this, as I do seem to go on and on about myself all the time. Hence the name
of this category -- a good friend of mine in California is fond of saying "It's
not all about you."
And did you
notice I managed once again to get off the subject of actually talking about me?
Yeah, good at that. I just can't imagine that anyone is all that interested.
OK. Here
goes.
I'm 30 years old (as of now. In
a couple of months, I'll be 31), 6'2", 225 pounds (a new record). As you could
have seen from the picture if I hadn't gone all minimalist and greyscale, I have
blondish-brown hair and a red mustache, legacy of my mother's side of the
family. We have no clue where the blondish-brown hair came from, nor the height
or weight.
I am Asatru, and a member
of Keeper of Seasons Hall based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, although I myself do
not live there. Asatru is, to put it succinctly, a modern reconstruction of the
ancient religion of Northern Europe, which you probably call Norse Mythology.
This may be important for you to know, as it sets the stage for my search for
meaning.
Are your eyes glazing over
yet? Mine sure are.
Let's see. I
travel the world with the U.S. military, as a civilian. At the time of this
writing, I'm in Afghanistan.
Oh
yeah, hobbies! Top of the list is scuba diving. I don't get to do it nearly as
often as I would like (maybe someday that will change). I also like whitewater
rafting, mountain climbing, biking, hiking, reading, and weight training.
I could go on for hours. However, if
I did, both of us would be in a straitjacket, pounding our head against the wall
in a vain attempt to end this torture. So let's call it quits for now. After
all, it's a blog. If I told you everything about myself right up front, where
would we be?
